International Journal of Mathematical Thinking and Cultural Practices is an international, open-access, and peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and review articles in the field of mathematical thinking, supporting the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The International Journal of Mathematical Thinking and Cultural Practices aims to disseminate state-of-the-art knowledge in understanding how the distinctive characteristics of Indonesian cognitive culture—such as collectivism, high-context communication, harmony orientation, relational reasoning, social hierarchy, gotong royong, cognitive flexibility, and the integration of intuition and logic—uniquely shape and enrich processes of reasoning, creativity, and practice in mathematics. It explores the interaction between mathematics and culture in various social contexts, particularly those relevant to the experiences of communities, especially in Indonesia. The journal positions Indonesian cognitive values not merely as contextual background but as a source of epistemic originality that offers new perspectives on mathematics as a human cultural activity, explored through theoretical, empirical, ethnographic, and educational design studies. In doing so, the journal provides a globally relevant contribution grounded in local wisdom not found in Western or East Asian traditions of thought. This journal publishes interdisciplinary studies that connect mathematical thinking and cultural practices.
